WHAT IS SBS?

During the school, students will be working, studying, and living in a close knit community of fellow students who are on the journey through the Bible together. They are given hands-on instruction in the principles of observation, interpretation, and application. They will survey each book and discover the big picture, while also digging into the details paragraph by paragraph. Emphasis is placed on understanding the cultural and historic background of each author and original reader of a book. The student will be interpreting Scripture with the mindset of the original reader, then they will take the timeless truths and apply them personally. Students will have opportunities to live out what they are learning; this is not a school of simply head knowledge, but also of practical application. SBS missionary
members will meet weekly with the students to aid in their personal growth, understanding of Scripture, and application of the inductive method.

Outreach
There is an outreach offered through the Titus Project at the completion of the nine months. This is a 8-12 week program that includes training on teaching and preaching, instruction on the inductive method, as well as presentation skills. The outreach is a fantastic opportunity to give out what you have been gaining during the school. The ministries you will serve in this time are long term and ongoing.

WHY DO SBS?

As followers of Jesus, we believe in the importance of knowing and understanding the Word of God on a deeper level, and that every individual have that opportunity to learn how to study, discover, and apply the truths of God’s Word to their own lives.

Whether you’re called to full time ministry in the unreached parts of the 10/40 window or to starting a business in your hometown, SBS will aid you in your calling.
Having a Biblical foundation will influence how you will live your life, make decisions and interact with others. SBS not only teaches you how to study the Bible for yourself, it also equips you with the tools needed to give Gods Word to others. These 9 months are an investment that will shape the rest of your life.

PERSONALISED TEACHING

During the school, students survey each book and discover the big picture, while also digging into the details paragraph by paragraph.

Emphasis is placed in understanding the cultural and historic background of each author and original reader of a book.

The student interprets Scripture with the mindset of the original reader then takes the timeless truths and applies them personally. Students are given hands-on instruction in the principles of observation, interpretation, and application.

SBS staff will meet weekly with the students to aid in their personal growth, understanding of Scripture, and application of the inductive method.

LOCATION

Located about an hour north of Brisbane on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Australia, students will have the opportunity to partake in daily activities such as: surfing, hiking, and exploring the endless coffee shops along the coast.

The SBS property is walking distance to shops and a quick drive to the beach, so walking on the sand while enjoying the sunset is a favorite way to end the day for our students.

Pool volleyball is also a favorite amongst students during study breaks.

And for the surfers, the closest surf beach is an eight minute drive.

DAY IN THE LIFE

On an average week in the School of Biblical Studies, students will attend lectures on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Aside from lectures, students will spend approximately
50-60 hours per week studying the Scriptures.

For nine months, the main responsibility for students is to study the Word! It’s truly a unique opportunity and privilege. There will also be times of worship, intercession, discipleship, and fun!

Also, once a week there will be the opportunity to get out into the community through wake boarding, surfing, leading youth groups, and teaching on our New Testament Overview to the DTS’s.
