YWAM Australia – Know God and Make God Known
It’s a time to seek God’s face, hear His voice, and discover your destiny! It’s a time to focus on Jesus and hear His heartbeat for the nations, then step out of your comfort zone and give it all for God! It’s the adventure of a lifetime. We’re Making Waves in the Nations – our heart is to see young people gain a passion for Jesus and make a difference in the nations.
Recent YWAM outreaches have gone to SE Asia, Africa, Pacific Islands, and Australia. We have a focus on Indonesia – we have been there every year since 1996!
We call it a Waves DTS because we believe that people who enjoy the surf culture make great missionaries. They are crazy enough to eat anything and sleep anywhere to surf great waves. We want to release this energy and have people who are so passionate for Jesus they will go anywhere and eat anything in order to preach the gospel – Waves of young people into the nations!
The school does have a surfing element to it – but it is also for NON-SURFING people who enjoy the beach culture. So while you DON’T have to surf or be a surfer to come, many people take the opportunity to learn to surf while they are here. Each Waves DTS has a specific surf outreach option where students can impact some of the world’s most un-reached people at an epic surfing location.
What is DTS?
YWAM Waves and its staff are dedicated to serving Jesus Christ and his mission to reach the world with the good news. We are willing to make any sacrifice to follow Jesus, to deny ourselves and give up our rights to comfort, freedom, safety, food, reputation, career…whatever.
One of our core values is to have fun, and we love to hang out, surf, and enjoy living on the coast here in beautiful Australia. But, we are serious about why we are here. If you are ready to make that commitment then a YWAM DTS, or Discipleship Training School, is for you. We are calling our generation to give up dependency upon comfort and ease to finish the mission for Jesus.
The YWAM Australia DTS will challenge your attitude and commitment – it will stretch you. If you don’t want holiness that hurts the eyes, if you are not sure you are ready to die to yourself and live only for Jesus, if you are not willing to be uncomfortable and stretched on outreach – then this may not be the place for you. But if you are willing to give it all for God then you will love it (you don’t have to have to be “super-missionary”, you just have to have a sweet (willing) heart).

Part 1: Lecture Phase
Spend the first 11 weeks living in Australia in a full on discipleship community located just a stones throw from the beach and the surf. Make new friends and learn about God together with young people from all over the world who are also passionately seeking God’s heart. Each week we have guest speakers who come from dynamic ministries to share awesome truths – covering topics like: Hearing God’s voice, The Father Heart of God, Relationships, Spiritual Warfare, and World Missions 
Part 2: Outreach Phase
After the lecture phase, you will put what you have learned into practice on a cross-cultural outreach. This is where the real adventure begins! Travel from Australia to strategic far-out locations – hacking through the jungle, trekking through deserts, climbing mountains, or surfing epic waves to reach un-reached peoples, plant churches, and bring hope through development projects that will transform a community and open the way for the gospel.
